The Roles
You will join an amazing team providing 24/7 residential care for a young male. He is energetic, cheeky, with a love of tech and water. He forms strong bonds with those around him and feels safe in a structured environment where clear boundaries are maintained.As part of his support team, you will play a vital role in helping him develop independence and master essential life skills.
- Position 1: 38.25 hours/fortnight – PM shifts + sleepovers
- Position 2: 46.25 hours/fortnight – Mix of AM/PM + sleepovers
Both roles include working one weekend per fortnight.
You'll play a key role in supporting daily routines, building life skills, and promoting independence in a meaningful, person-directed way.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will ideally bring experience in providing personal care and have strong communication skills that support effective engagement and collaboration. Your ability to manage time well and respond to situations with calm, creative problem-solving will be key to delivering person-centred, consistent support.Experience supporting people with disabilities, particularly those with complex needs, autism, or challenging behaviours, will help you understand and respond to the unique dynamics of this service. A solid understanding of structured environments and sensory needs will support your ability to create a safe and empowering space.
The person you’ll support enjoys technology, scenic drives, and outdoor walks. We're looking for someone who can engage with these interests enthusiastically, making everyday moments meaningful and fun.You’ll need to follow clear routines while staying adaptable. A resilient mindset, good humour, and a genuine passion for helping others grow are essential.
Essential criteria for this role:
- Experience working with individuals with Autism.
- Full NZ Driver's license
- Legal right to work in New Zealand
- Must be willing to undergo criminal and Oranga Tamariki checks
- Valid first aid certificate
- Certificate in Health and Wellbeing, Level 3 and above
