About the Role
Are you looking to contribute to the community in a meaningful way? Be part of a dynamic team working in 2 community birthing units.
Hospital Aides support the midwives - role and are responsible for the domestic requirements of the unit. These include for example, cleaning and stocking rooms; ordering and stocking linen; answering the phone; orientating women to the unit and supporting partner and whanau (family) visiting.
The service operates Monday to Sunday during 8 hour shifts- Morning 6:30am
- 3pm, Afternoon 2:30pm
- 11pm and Night 10:30am
- 7am shifts.
Please note times may vary.
Salary starting from $60,100 to $70,358 per annum.Based on the NZNO Nursing and Midwifery collective agreement.
About the Service
Kurawaka Waipapa is our brand-new central city community birthing unit located at 238 Antigua Street and is founded on a Te Ao Maori model of care. Rangiora Maternity is situated in a lovely rural setting 20-30 minutes - drive from central Christchurch.It is a 10 bedded Primary Maternity Unit, providing both birth and postnatal care. There is also an outreach obstetrics and gynaecology clinic held at the facility to ensure care closer to home for wahine (women) who live in North Canterbury.
The service is committed to supporting mama (people) and their whanau (family) to create an environment that will enable their pepi (baby) to have the best start to life, by providing community pregnancy support and birthing options that meet the needs of mama/whanau and pepi to receive care in the right place and at the right time.
About you
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a committed and motivated individual who is looking to be part of the maternity strategy to promote a model of care change that seeks to facilitate more women having the confidence, if well, to birth at our community units.
- Previous Hospital Aide experience and a First Aide Certificate an advantage
- A passion for primary birthing and breastfeeding
- Ability to work all shifts - Morning, Afternoon and Nights
- Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills
- A commitment to equity and our responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi within maternity services
- The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
- Working cohesively in a team environment
