Site Operations - Machine Operator - Tokoroa
Gamman Developments Ltd (GDL) is a manufacturing site located in Putaruru, providing bark fines, sawdust, organic compost and mulches on a bulk scale to the horticultural industry. We are looking for a full-time machine operator with the aptitude to assist with site operations, and offer a competitive pay rate, guaranteed minimum hours Monday to Friday (not weather dependent), and a permanent/full time position.
Job description:This role is suited to someone who has made the choice to work with machinery (because you enjoy it) and have the maturity to do what is needed to keep the site running smoothly.
Our machine operators are often in a wheel loader (Volvo/CAT), loading and unloading screening plants and truck & trailers, ensuring loads are weighed/scanned accurately and despatch invoicing is completed correctly, pushing up raw material as it arrives to the right stockpiles and ensuring our customers weekly orders are completed accurately.
Experienced digger operation (up to 20tn) is required occasionally to stockpile product and load mulching plants, and you will need to be an experienced and safe operator.
The rest of the team are there to help you too, under the guidance of the Maintenance & Operations Managers.
The work includes, but is not limited to:Daily pre-start safety inspections, operating screening/crushing plants and safely operating heavy machinery, repairs & maintenance as required and communicating effectively. We also have random projects on the go most of the time, like repainting equipment, building bunds or engineering specialised equipment - never a dull moment!
You need to:- Be able to work unsupervised with a positive work attitude,
- Have a strong work ethic and positive attitude towards maintaining a safe working environment,
- Have W.T. endorsements,
- Have a minimum of a Class 4 license,
- Have good experience in loader and digger operation,
- Have a good level of literacy and numeracy so you feel confident using scanning equipment and a Loadrite, and can openly communicate with truck drivers, administrators and your colleagues,
- Be willing to assist with yard maintenance, project work, and anything else that requires attention,
- Be fit and capable of some heavy lifting (the team digs in and there’s a forklift to help).
Hours: Monday to Friday – 6.30am to 4.30pm
Saturdays are available if you want extra hours but are not expected and we generally have a two-week shutdown over Christmas/New Year as part of our four-weeks of annual leave.Start date can be discussed, we will wait for the right person.
