Kitchen Hand
Located in Tai Tapu, 25 minutes out of Christchurch, the Tai Tapu Hotel was established in 1856. The hotel offers unpretentious genuine kiwi hospitality and food.
We are looking for an experienced kitchen hand, minimum 2 years’ kitchen experience, to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record, be honest, reliable and hard working with a great sense of humour. You will be an excellent communicator and be passionate about food.
Attributes and duties include:
- Ability to work within a team.
- An energetic personality, with the ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
- Able to work under pressure.
- A healthy obsession with food.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
- Be available to work weekdays and weekend till close (Weekends, public holidays).
- Cleaning of utensils, dishes, food prep equipment, floors etc.
- Disposing of rubbish and generally keeping the kitchen and food preparation areas clean and tidy.
- Assisting the chefs with food preparation and cooking of food.
- Must have own / reliable transport due to late night finishes.
- Relevant work experience in large format, fast paced pub & adaptable to different cuisines will be an advantage but not essential.
This is for a full-time position over a seven-day rostered shifts, with number of hours determined by various functions and events. However, it is a guaranteed minimum 35 hours a week, with a typical week being 45 hours plus. Hourly rate from $23 - $26 gross, depending on qualifications and experience level.
Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand. We hold an AEWW with Immigration NZ.
