Secretary -Legal role

We are seeking a motivated person, possibly a graduate and/or someone with a legal executive qualification to join our high profile, busy and hardworking boutique litigation firm. This would be a perfect role for someone who wishes to start a career in a law firm environment and who is committed to helping some of the most vulnerable people in society.
The main role will be to provide a high level of secretarial/PA work.
The role will include a combination of:
- Dictation typing of court documents and correspondence (it is essential that you have proven fast and accurate typing in the use of digital dictation, at least 60 words p/m);
- Other word processing as required by the Partners (and other legal staff);
- Taking phone calls from our very extensive client group on a daily basis and being our “front of house”;
- Database management;
- File maintenance;
- Some billing.
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 2 years’ recent proven experience in a secretarial/PA role;
- If a graduate, a degree in either English or the social sciences;
- A sensitive, friendly and calm phone manner;
- Superior attention to detail;
- High use of initiative;
- An outstanding level of spelling and grammar;
- Full working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
- A high proficiency in English (great Maori pronunciation is also beneficial);
- Ability to multitask and being comfortable dealing with a diverse group of people.
- Resilience and the ability to deal with challenging situations and topics.
