Restaurant Manager - Christchurch

Farmers Corner – Highway One Restaurant is a prominent tourist destination in Ashburton, NZ, renowned for serving authentic Chinese cuisine primarily to tour groups visiting our retail store. Our restaurant plays a crucial role in providing group meals while also exploring opportunities to attract local patrons.

Hours per Week: Average 40 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day restaurant operations, including staff scheduling, inventory control, and quality assurance.
• Uphold high standards of customer service to enhance the dining experience for both local patrons and Southeast Asian tour groups.
• Handle bookings and communicate with tour operators to accommodate dietary requirements and special menu requests.
• Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the restaurant.
• Recruit, train, and mentor restaurant staff to maintain a skilled and motivated team.
• Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure consistency and excellence in food quality.
• Implement and enforce health and safety standards to create a safe and hygienic environment.

Qualifications:

• Proven relevant experience in restaurant management or a relevant formal qualification (NZQF Diploma in Hospitality Management or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of Chinese cuisine and Southeast Asian dining preferences.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
• Knowledge of restaurant financials, budgeting, and cost control.
• Fluency in Mandarin is a plus.
