Job Overview:

  • Management of workshop staff to ensure work is completed in an efficient, timely and safe manner with other production manager.
  • Planning fabrication in sequence with site and programme requirements working with other production managers
  • Supplier quote liaison and ordering of materials to meet requirements and specifications
  • Production flow forecasting
  • Production reporting
  • Management of all relevant QA
  • Monitoring and reviewing storage and inventory systems to meet supply requirements and control stock levels
  • Liaising with other departments and customers concerning requirements for outward goods and associated forwarding transportation
  • Receipt, job allocation and tracking of goods and materials ordered
  • Efficient use of materials, stock and off-cuts including reallocation as required
  • Manage shipping, receiving, delivery and distribution
  • Engaging and maintaining positive supplier relationships
  • Forecasting, indenting and holding steel orders.
  • Proficient in nesting software to get optimal results.
  • Proficient with the use of STRUMIS software
  • Broadcasting quarterly production forecast.
  • Creating load lists and sending them to our painting division
  • Contribute to the identification and minimisation of organisational risks and hazards
  • Promote a safe working environment and culture of safe/responsible practices, behaviours and attitudes
  • Any other tasks as reasonably required

The previous experience, technical ability and professional qualifications required to perform the role are:

  • Minimum three years’ workshop management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of structural fabrication and welding
  • Relevant industry experience and knowledge of structural steel
  • Strong technological aptitude
  • Previous experience with Strumis, Xero, Excel and Google Sheets
  • Relevant trade qualifications and certifications advantageous
