ABOUT THE ROLE...
We have a great team and consider attitude and cultural fit to be key elements in defining and identifying the right candidate for this role. The day-to-day duties in this role will require you to:
- Maintain work area and equipment in tidy and safe condition.
- Draw materials from stock and ensure all parts and labour are booked to the job as appropriate
- Servising and repairs to units.
- General hydraulic repairs.
- Assemble and fit components where required.
- Electrical and electronic trouble shooting and problem resolution.
- Fitting of units to vehicles and commissioning.
- Annual certification of units.
- Technical repairs including ECU fault diagnostics, remote control repairs etc.
- Ensure safe operation of all equipment in work area by self or others.
- Ensure safety of self and colleagues at all times.
- Review and advise on engineering requirements and drawings.
- Effective communication – keeping management and relevant parties aware and seeking advice and assistance when required.
- Any other duty as may be required commensurate with the grading of the post and the skill of the post holder.
- A minimum of 3 years relevant experience as a heavy diesel mechanic or similar.
- Formal trade qualification.
- Excellent decision-making skills.
- Good knowledge of general motor/diesel mechanics, mechanical fitting, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative and with low level supervision.
- Experience working on flammable liquids or gases tank wagons would be considered advantageous.
- HGV Truck and Trailer driver’s license (Class 5) and DG endorsement would be considered advantageous however this is NOT a driving role.
