Technical SEO Specialist - Wellington
Trade Me is one of New Zealand's most popular websites with over four million members and more than 650,000 Kiwis visiting our site every day with over 7 million active listings.
This newly created role of Technical SEO Specialist is a fantastic opportunity to join us and work on optimising the technical aspects of our website visited by those users. The role can be based in either Auckland or Wellington (2 days in the office, 3 days at home).
Your role will focus on areas such as:
- Creating plans to improve our site architecture and crawlability, enhancing search engine visibility across the business
- Collaborating with our SEO squad on roadmap projects, helping to define Technical SEO requirements and ensuring that delivery timelines are met
- Working with Engineering to define Technical SEO best practices, and helping to embed these within our vertical squads

What you will bring to our team:
- 5+ years of recent SEO experience
- Experience optimising large/enterprise-level websites (either client-side or agency-side)
- Understanding of front-end web development (XHTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Understanding of client-side vs. server-side considerations in SEO
- Advanced knowledge of Google Search Console and either Semrush or Ahrefs for conducting technical audits and troubleshooting issues
- Experience with optimising crawl budgets and Core Web Vitals
- Understanding of algorithmic updates and their impact on Organic Search
- Experience working and communicating with Developers/Engineers
