Chef
We are a Nepalese restaurant based in Rotorua, and we are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our team in a permanent, full-time role. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who takes pride in culinary excellence and enjoys leading a dynamic kitchen environment.
As a Chef, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our menu and recipes, while overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations. From managing inventory and budgets to ensuring food quality and team coordination, your leadership will play a key role in delivering an exceptional dining experience.
You will be guaranteed 30 hours per week rostered between 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, Monday to Sunday. We offer competitive wage between $28.00 - $32.00 per hour.
Job Duties:
- Plan, design, and execute high-quality menus and recipes
- Prepare and cook food and ensure prompt and attentive service to meet guest expectations
- Oversee daily kitchen operations and food preparation areas
- Manage kitchen budgets and control food and labour costs while maintaining quality
- Order and manage stock, ensuring adequate inventory levels
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and temperature and spot check dishes
- Supervise and train kitchen staff in cooking techniques and hygiene standards
- Enforce food safety standards and kitchen policies
- Assist in hiring and training new kitchen team members as needed
- Perform other related duties as reasonably required
Requirements:
- Must have 2 years of relevant work experience
- Preferably have some relevant qualification
- Strong knowledge of Nepalese cuisine is advantageous
- Time management and leadership qualities
- Commitment to quality, hygiene, and safety standards
