About the role
Based out of the Depot, you will be responsible for supervision of a team permanent staff on a daily basis, plus contractors and sub-contractors as necessary. You will also ensure that consistent direction and technical standards are achieved and will involve working alongside the teams when undertaking particularly difficult or demanding work.
Your focus in this role will be:- Daily liaison with Team Leader, Delivery Officer, Job Co-ordinators and other staff including provision of engineering advice.
- Working with the Team leader in planning and organising of work including obtaining of all necessary permits and approvals, traffic management plans, material and sub-contract prices, purchasing or hire of resources, * programming of work and supervision of construction.
- Interpretation of plans and specifications and assistance with onsite mark outs.
- Assist in staff training.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have minimum of 5 years water construction experience. A Class 4 (or above) drivers’ licence is essential as this role will involve operating heavy machinery and working on sites across Palmerston North and W, T, R endorsements are also an advantage.
In addition, you will have:- A sound working knowledge of Contract Administration and supervision of construction works.
- Previous experience with plant and equipment and active experience in the Civil Works field.
- A full working knowledge of contracting and construction methods and standards is essential.
- Proven ability in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- The ability to gain cooperation from and provide assistance to staff at all levels within the organisation in order to meet the various deadlines.
- Experience at supervising and organising staff on a daily basis
