Porter Fields is an innovative mixed arable, livestock finishing and contracting business situated in Pendarves, Mid Canterbury.

Following the retirement of a long-standing employee the business requires a dynamic individual to assist in the management of the farming business alongside the owner.

The successful candidate will need to have excellent problem solving skills and initiative. They will assist and guide in implementing seasonal plans, optimising the livestock integration and assist the wider business. The business also operates a Novag No-Till Drilling contracting operation.

Porter Fields grows a large range of arable crops, ideally suited to the Pendarves area alongside finishing of up to 4,000 lambs annually. For over 20 years Porter Fields has successfully implemented a direct drilling philosophy, and the success of this philosophy is well regarded by industry.

In addition, some local grain delivery and other freight is carried out by the business using its own truck and trailer unit.

Porter Fields offer an extremely diverse workplace, with significant variety from day to day. This is an opportunity to grow an agricultural career within a supportive environment and allows some autonomy to make decisions. Given the diversity of the business some extra work at certain times of the year will be required and holding of a Class 5 Heavy Vehicle licence would be an advantage.

Just 20km from Ashburton, this is an exciting opportunity for a young family. A renovated 4 Bedroom house is available and there is a school bus available at the gate. Remuneration and wider package can be negotiated with the successful applicant.
