Your key role | To turanga matuaWhat does a Support Worker do?
You will be supporting clients within Banks Peninsula with a range of everyday needs, guided by their individual care plan. Your tasks may include, but aren’t limited to, the following:- Personal Care and Daily Living Assistance: You will assist with transfers, personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation.
- Medication: Medication Prompting and Mediation Administration
- Household Tasks: You will perform housekeeping duties including bed making, laundry, drying the shower, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for the client you support.
- Shopping and Errands: You will assist with grocery shopping
- Bowel Management and Catheter Management
You will also play an important role in helping clients with gentle, passive exercises that support their health and well-being.
Shifts run across both mornings and evenings throughout the week to ensure our clients receive consistent care and support. While the schedule below shows current shift options in Little River and Akaroa, we do ask that you are available for at least one weekend day to help us maintain reliable support for our clients.
The following shifts are the following:
Little River
Monday to Sunday: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
12:30 pm – 2:30 pm5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
10:00 pm – 10:30 pm
Akaroa
Monday to Sunday: 7:00 am – 8:30 am
9:00 am – 10:00 am8:00 am – 9:00 am
10:00 am – 11:00 am

- Minimum Level 2 in Health and Wellbeing qualification or its equivalent from another country is beneficial but not necessary.
- Full NZ Driver's License
- A reliable vehicle of your own
- A valid and current Basic First Aid Certificate is required. If you do not have one, you must provide evidence of a confirmed booking before starting employment.
- Candidates must be able to pass a Police Check or undergo vetting. To fast-track your application, simply request a copy of your recent Police Vetting Result from your current or past employer. This will help speed up your hiring process!
