Chef Assistant/Evening Cook
Bidwill Trust Hospital is a modern, purpose-built, private surgical hospital, with facilities that are comparable with the best in New Zealand. With just 15 inpatient beds and a 14-bed day surgery unit, Bidwill is small enough to provide quality personalised care and attention.

The Chef Assistant will be involved in preparing, cooking, and serving meals and snacks for day and in-patients during their stay. Menus are created by the Chef, and the Chef Assistant will be involved in menu planning, so you can bring your ideas and creative flair to the table.
Key duties include:
- Working collaboratively as part of the kitchen team to prepare, cook, and serve meals and snacks
- Ensuring food hygiene and quality standards are maintained at all times
- Maintaining clean and sanitised work areas
- Contributing to menu planning
- Demonstrating respect for patients' dietary and cultural needs and preferences
Our ideal candidate has:
- A proven background in cooking roles - this could be in a commercial environment, or as a passionate home cook/volunteer
- Excellent understanding of food safety and quality processes
- Qualifications/certificates in food hygiene/food safety (desirable)
- Knowledge of special dietary requirements
- Great time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities
- Good physical fitness and personal presentation
- Computer competency
- Mon: 7.00 am to 2 pm approx
- Tues: 7.00 am to 2 pm approx
- Thurs & Fri: 4 pm to 7 pm
Plus every 4th Saturday: 7.00 am for 3-6 hours work
