About the roleAs Addictions Peer Support Worker you may be:Supporting people with their recovery in their own homeConnecting or reconnecting them with their whānau and natural supportsAccompanying people through their whakapapa journeyInspiring hope and recovery from addictionsEmpowering people to do the things they love, as independently as possibleSupporting people with budgeting or other skills to help manage the cost of living crisisAttending appointments and advocating for peoplePossibly participating in an on-call roster after hours and weekends About youWe are looking for someone who has progressed to recovery through their own mental health and addictions journey and is able to support others struggling with their own addictions journey.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have the following:Willing to obtain (if not already completed) an accredited New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing and Intensive Peer Support TrainingBe culturally competentCompetency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthAble to build professional relationships with a wide range of peopleHave good professional boundariesMust hold a current full driver’s licence About usOur kai mahi (staff) all share a common goal of supporting tangata whai ora to live their best lives as independently as possible in the community.
