JOB DESCRIPTION
- EE&A Programme - Tree Cover & Climate Change Education Programme:
Over the past 20 years, WRCT has planted thousands of trees throughout the catchment as part of its regular volunteer tree-planting program. We are seeking to encourage businesses and other community leaders to get on board with the trend, launching our “Greening the Whau” initiative.
- EE&A Programme - The Whau River Catchment Floodplain Awareness Programme:
Without factoring in these aspects, it can be difficult to restore the stream to a fully functioning ecosystem. WRCT’s approach to flood education would be to increase awareness and preparedness levels, to building flood resilient communities.
This approach would increase community participation in the design, implementation and evaluation of programs and effective ongoing education provision through local flood education programmes on private and public land.

Environmental Education Programme involving the Community, Schools & Local Businesses. The Action Learning Programme (Involves ‘in-the-field’ education at community planting days around waterways throughout the Whau River catchment).

The WRCT will be able to offer a range of unique environmental education programmes to the local community to enable people to learn how natural environments function and how people in the community can manage their behaviour in order to live more sustainably.Environmental Education is often thought of as education within the school system. However, we view it more broadly to include all efforts to educate the public and other audiences, through print materials, websites, social media campaigns etc.
