We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, especially those with lived experience of disability or mental health, Maori, Pasifika, and LGBTQIA+ communities.

The Role

We’re looking for someone exceptional—someone passionate about empowering others to thrive. As a Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in helping a young person with complex disabilities build independence, confidence, and life skills.

You’ll join a supportive team providing 24/7 residential care. The person you’ll support is energetic, curious, and enjoys technology and water-based activities. They thrive in a structured environment where consistency and strong relationships are essential.

This is a permanent full-time role (71.25 hours per fortnight) with a mix of morning, afternoon, and sleepover shifts.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will ideally bring experience in providing personal care and have strong communication skills that support effective engagement and collaboration. Your ability to manage time well and respond to situations with calm, creative problem-solving will be key to delivering person-centred, consistent support.

Experience supporting people with disabilities, particularly those with complex needs, autism, or challenging behaviours, will help you understand and respond to the unique dynamics of this service. A solid understanding of structured environments and sensory needs will support your ability to create a safe and empowering space.

The person you’ll support enjoys technology, scenic drives, and outdoor walks. We're looking for someone who can engage with these interests enthusiastically, making everyday moments meaningful and fun.

You’ll need to follow clear routines while staying adaptable. A resilient mindset, good humour, and a genuine passion for helping others grow are essential.

Essential criteria for this role:

  • Experience working with individuals with Autism.
  • Full NZ Driver's license
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand
  • Must be willing to undergo criminal and Oranga Tamariki checks
