Kitchen Manager - Akaroa - Christchurch

Located just an hours drive from Christchurch, on the shores of Banks Pensinsula, you'll find Akaroa, a former French settlement founded in 1840. Akaroa is famous for it's colonial heritage, dining scene, stunning scenery and the opportunity to spot the rare Hectors Dolphins in the harbour.
We are looking for a Kitchen Manager to join a company with two venues, known for their great culture, right in the heart of Akaroa. The venues consist of a gastropub and a beautiful bistro, each open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner with extended hours over the busy summer season.You will report directly to the owner and you will be responsible for the overall kitchen management of both sites, key areas of focus will be system development, human resources and profitability. While there is a lot of back-end management in this role it is also expected that you will work in the kitchen with your team, as and when required.
To be successful in this role you'll need to have proven experience working in high-volume venues in a senior role, ideally at Head Chef level. A numbers brain is essential, commercial acumen too! Recent references will be able to back up your ability to remain calm under pressure and build solid working relationships. Here are some other skills and attributes that will be highly regarded:
- Formal cookery qualifications or relevant experience (5+ years)
- People person - the team is closeknit and being able to gel well is vital
- Ability to work flexible rosters - weekends are essential
- High energy levels
No sponsorship is available (AEWV AND VOC), all candidates must reside in NZ and hold full unrestricted work rights
This role is in Akaroa so you will need to relocate, but the client is happy to wait for the right candidate. Accommodation options range but all include a private room, unfortunately the accommodation is not suitable for families, but assistance can be provided to find permanent family housing.
