About the role: This is a hands on leadership role where you’ll be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and compliance of a large vehicle fleet. You’ll play a key role in reducing mechanical costs, improving fleet utilisation, and ensuring safety and compliance across all branches.This is a role for someone who is not afraid of hard work, enjoys being on the ground, and is ready to take full ownership of fleet operations.
Day to day responsibilities:
- Develop and implement an effective fleet strategy to optimise vehicle utilisation.
- Oversee maintenance and compliance, ensuring all vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Reduce mechanical spend through proactive maintenance planning and supplier negotiations.
- Lead and train branch staff in fleet procedures and best practices.
- Conduct regular audits and site visits across branches to maintain high operational standards.
- Manage fleet-related budgets and reporting, ensuring cost efficiency.
- Act as the primary contact for all fleet-related matters, including breakdowns and vehicle sales.
Days/ Hours: 50 hours per week

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Extensive fleet management experience in rental, transport, or logistics, with a strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and compliance.
- A mechanical background – whether you're an ex-mechanic or have deep technical knowledge of vehicles, you know what it takes to keep a fleet running smoothly.
- A proactive, hands-on leadership style – you're not just managing from a desk; you're on the ground, driving performance and leading by example.
- Strong commercial acumen – you know how to reduce costs, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure operational efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills – you can confidently engage with everyone from workshop staff to senior leadership, ensuring smooth operations across all branches.
