Southern Lake Express is seeking a dedicated and experienced Fleet Operations Manager to lead the efficient management of our vehicle fleet in beautiful Queenstown. This full-time role offers a competitive starting rate and the opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced logistics environment.
✅ Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations Management- Oversee daily fleet operations to ensure timely and efficient deliveries
- Manage route planning and vehicle scheduling for maximum performance
- Coordinate closely with dispatch for optimal vehicle allocation
- Develop preventive maintenance plans to ensure vehicles meet NZ safety standards
- Ensure compliance with local regulations (WoF, registration, insurance)
- Keep maintenance records up to date and organise servicing as needed
- Monitor fuel, repair, and insurance costs, ensuring efficient budgeting
- Prepare forecasts and manage expenses to meet operational targets
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives
- Lead, supervise, and train drivers in line with company policies and safety standards
- Conduct performance reviews and encourage continuous improvement
- Foster a positive and safety-conscious team culture
- Track fleet performance, fuel efficiency, and utilisation metrics
- Report regularly to senior management
- Use fleet management software to analyse and improve operations
- Promote safe driving and ensure vehicles meet regulatory standards
- Respond to incidents promptly and implement corrective actions
- Maintain a safety-first work culture
- Remuneration
- Starting rate: NZD $28 - $32 per hour
- Minimum of 30 hours per week, full-time permanent employment
- Skills and Qualifications
- At leaset 2 years experience in a relevant role or Diploma level 5 in management or
- A Bachelor’s degree in any filed or higher is could substitute the above experiences
- Strong knowledge of NZ transport regulations and compliance requirements
- Financial acumen in fleet budgeting and cost control
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Full NZ Class 1 driver’s licence or higher is required
